Thanks again to all who have been visiting us, and who will be this week.
We will be in good supplies of dapple fire pluots over the next several weeks as well as big white and yellow peaches. Necatrines are not looking plentiful for the remainder of summer, but supplies are good for white this Saturday. These July weeks find us with loads of muskmelons of various shapes and flavors, juicy and aromatic. Same for tomatoes, no wet red cardboard here! We finished picking both around 2PM today, Friday, vine ripened! This Saturday, buy 2, get 1 free for all melons with a $5 melon minimum, so show up hungry and we will eat 33%. Lugs of stonefruits, tomatoes also available at wholesale rates, making this a great time called summer to preserve those peak season flavors. Cucumber and pepper numbers down, lots of basil and other herbs, and sweet onions of all colors. Got elephant garlic too. Sweet corn and green beans are finished, until my late planting, harvest to be September.
For those who continue need clarification / assurance, or are new to Tesch Family Farms and/or continue to ask, we haven't sprayed any summer vegetable or annual fruit or herb which we are growing and harvesting this 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007...get the picture. We do apply in season fungicides, foliar fertilizers, and occasionally insecticides to our tree fruit as conditions warrant. Compost and liquid fertilizers applied through drip irrigation to get balanced nutrition are a big part of our healthy crops / healthy people program. We eat what we grow, with the exception of eggplants and hot peppers, (personal choice). We believe that any catagory of produce responsibly grown within the boarders of California, and picked at its prime is good to eat, "conventional", "certified organic", or whatever you want to call it, we don't care, just eat it!
Main locations: Saturday morning 8-Noon, Golden State Mall, Bakersfield
Thursday 4-7PM, Tehachapi City Hall, Tehachapi
Hope to see all this Saturday early before 103F. Eat well, in the shade!
